In sight of this aim, Dubai plans to take flights with the announced DXV or Dubai International Vertiport as the city’s first flying car station. Constructed next to Dubai International, or DXB airport, a heliport which should be up and running in 2026 represents an important stepping stone for flying over towns.
DXV will be the first of four vertiports to be developed in Dubai, promising customers fast and, importantly, sustainable travel across the emirate. Stations will also be built during phase one in Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah. The aerial taxis will be operated by the Roads and Transport Authority and interconnected with other modes of public transport, providing an integrated travel system.

The flying taxis, built by JOBY Aviation, will carry a pilot and four passengers at 200 miles per hour. Each flight will last approximately 12 minutes, reducing travel time significantly when compared to using the road for transport. For instance, a trip from the DXB will take 12 minutes instead of the usual 45 minutes it takes by car.

Sustainable and Convenient Travel

Taxis are even more convenient at zero emissions during flight. At the vertiport, passengers will be able to enjoy quick boarding with a minimum of waiting and no extensive security checks. The service will be bookable through Uber at a cost comparable to Uber Black.

High Capacity and Advanced Features

The facility is 3,100 square meters and will be able to handle 42,000 landings and 170,000 passengers annually. With aircraft charging stations, the vertiport will support rapid turnarounds and be efficient and reliable.

A Bold Step Forward

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, shared the announcement on his official X account, saying the city is committed to innovation.
