The area, approximately 3,5 sq km with the Al Wasl dome at its center, is in the process of changing its role from being a recreational area to a fully-functional new city capable of housing more than 35 000 residents, and hosting over 40 000 workers.

It has also integrated direct connection with the Dubai Metro enabling, the provision of public transport link to over sixty stations in Dubai. Al Khatib further explained that the masterplan is aimed at ‘walkability’ and climate comfort with active mobility to decrease travel time and improve the air quality of the community.
