Facts & Figures: The Burj Khalifa

In order to create Burj Khalifa, the architects had to be inspired by dream as well as concrete fundamentals. The project collected an incredible amount of facts, figures, and stats on various topics; during the work on the project, several world records were set.

World Records

  • Height: 828 meters plus and 160 floors plus.
  • Tallest Building in the World: Currently the Burj Khalifa building holds the record of being the tallest building in the world.

  • Highest Number of Stories: Not a single structure seems to have more stories.
  • Highest Occupied Floor: This field record involves the highest floor that is in use in a building or any structure.

CTBUH from Chicago defines what makes a tall building tall, using three factors. Burj Khalifa excels in all three categories:Burj Khalifa excels in all three categories:

Height to Architectural Top:

  • Expressed from the lowest, prominent, exterior, ground entrance point to the highest architectural point in the building.
  • Refers only to the sculptural shapes or forms, but does not include the antennas, signages, flagpoles and other similar kinds of technical-technological equipment.
  • This measurement is the most common one and is the basis for the CTBUH listings of the World’s Tallest Buildings.
  • Highest Occupied Floor:
  • Starting from the flood level on the lowest significant open walkway for pedestrians and ending on the last occupied floor on the roof of the building.
  • Excludes maintenance areas.

Height to Tip:

  • Starting from the walking level of the lowest most substantial entrance, exterior door, stairway, up to the highest point of the building.
  • This is functional technical structures such as antennae, flagpoles, signages, and the likes.
  • This paper is aimed at showing that Burj Khalifa is one of the most remarkable architectural accomplishments of the recent years, as it is both beautiful and mastered to the minimum detail.
