RTA Completes Traffic Enhancements on Key Al Mankhool Streets

The works of traffic enhancement in al Mankhool area in Dubai has been successfully completed by the RTA specialists on three major roads. This vast project, which consists of alteration works at Kuwait Street Intersection, 12A Street Intersection, and 10C Street Intersection, is the part of RTA’s program of road network improvement in the Dubai city. These initiatives are in line with initiatives to catalyse the flow and growth of the city’s economy, cater for the increasing population, keep Dubai as the global city as well as boost quality of life for residents.

A recent interview by Hussain Al Banna, the CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency at RTA, showed the generally saturated traffic associated with Al Mankhool. He said that main changes consist of decreasing the right-in and right-out lanes from two to one at the intersection of Kuwait Street and 10C Street also introducing the U-turn movement on 10C Street to enhance traffic safety and minimize the quantity of the traffic accidents.

Also as part of the project, the site moved the U-turn on Kuwait Street in order to extend the dimension of the storage Lane; the move was aimed at improving traffic light phasing making a headway time cutting the delay by a third at the junction of Kuwait Street and 12A Street. All these changes are aimed at reducing queuing and waiting time of vehicles. The removal of conflict points with traffic circulation involving 10C Street to 12A Street ought to complement safety on Kuwait Street.

Al Banna explained that these enhancements would enhance the free flow of traffic and ease traffic movement around Al Mankhool and its vicinities and would be benefiting around 130,000 residents and school going children. Al Mankhool serves as one of the primary business destinations as several service providers involve hospitality industries, hospitals, and many others retail and wholesale business entities.

All in all, RTA’s improvement in Al Mankhool reflects a remarkable upgrade in traffic signals that will boost the commercial activity in the region and upgrade the routine transport situation of the people living in that area.
