Etihad Airways Honors Emirati Women’s Contributions to Aviation on 20th Anniversary

Emirati Women’s Day: UAE’s flag-carrier Etihad Airways holds special event as it turns 20 years old this year . These activities unfolding in line with the Emirati Women’s Day served to underscore the commitment of the airline in the promotion of local talent and diversity in the workplace.

It is well documented that Etihad has focused on the creation of a skilled Emirati workforce and especially women to support its operation in different aviation positions highlighting this talent development achievement of the company that 46% of its UAE national employees are Emirati women. In the past twenty years, Etihad has built a good record for training Emirati people through various programs offered in the airline. These include The Etihad Cadet Pilot Programme, Graduate Manager Programme and focused training for technicians as well as engineers. Consequently, the UAE has had a number of Emirati females boasting as pilots, cabin crew, aircraft technicians, engineers, medical doctors, trainers and lawyers, not to mention that they occupy strategic positions within the organization.

Following are more proofs of Etihad Flying Towards Empowerment of Emirati women : In August 2016 Etihad Airways established the Global Business Service Solutions revenue accounting center in Al Ain In May 2011, it unleased its all- female call-center in Al Ain . Such measures emphasize the vision of the airline to ensure that it delivers essential training and professional development for creating a strong and rich employees’ profile.

Speaking with Gulf News, the Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer at Etihad Airways, Dr. Nadia Bastaki, said that she is proud of the Emirati women that are working within the organization. She also highlighted their importance in Etihad’s recognition as a global airline noting that Emirati women have proved to be instrumental working in operational roles, leadership positions and as outstation managers across the globe. They are role models for the UAE and the global aviation industry. She said: “Today, ladies are highly spirited, Innovative, and reclaiming their inherent worth in both contributing to the Etihad airways profile, the aviation industry and the future
