How to Apply for a Health Card in the UAE: Complete Guide

The job entails that you live in the UAE and while this may be exciting the pressure that comes with living here can be immense hence the need to have a good healthcare plan that is accessible in this country to its residents and citizens. The Emirates Health Services (EHS) health card entails a package of medical services made available at cheaper cost to enable people organize their health well. For normal residents it has numerous advantages when it comes to health card; however, PoD has access to free services.

Eligibility
It can be made understood that anyone, whether a UAE citizen, a GCC citizen or a resident in UAE is free to apply for the health card.

Requirements
For UAE citizens: Both Emirates ID and photocopy of the Family book.
For GCC citizens and UAE residents: Passport sized photograph.
For PoD: Compatible document: Medical report from a government health care facility not older than three months, Emirates ID, and passport.
Fees
PoD: AED 50
UAE citizens: AED 50
Expats: The card costs AED 100 while the EHS application form will cost AED 15.
How to Apply
Online (via EHS website)

Visit ehs. gov. ae
Go to: ‘Patient Services’ > ‘Issue of a Health Card’ > ‘Start Now’
Login through UAE Pass and its authentication can be done through the phone.
Choose your healthcare category
Emirates ID details to be provided and then go to the payment stage.

Via EHS App

The candidate can login with UAE Pass.
Click on ‘Services’ and then find an option of ‘Issue of Health Card’
Choose your category and move on with the process of applying.
Complete the payment process

Validity
UAE and GCC nationals: Five years
UAE residents: 1 year
Processing Time
The card gets linked to emirates ID on the spot once the payment is made for the card. This situation can take 7-30 days of activation for applicants who register for PoD.

Validity at EHS Facilities
The health card is recognized in all the EHS run health facilities which include the public health centres and hospitals within the UAE.
