President Sheikh Mohamed and Grand Imam of Al Azhar Discuss Co-Existence and Peace

The President of the State – Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed received the Grand Imam of the Al Azhar and the Chairperson of the Senior Council of Muslim Scholars, Dr. Al Ahmed Al Tayeb at Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi on Friday. Its talks focused on improving the collaboration of UAE authorities, Al Azhr and the Musilm Counsil of Elders.

On his part, the Sheikh Mohamed thanked the Grand Imam for his initiatives in creating tolerance, human coexistence, and respecting others. During the dialogue, the speakers also stressed the need to unite the shared values of humanity and develop spirituality for tolerance, civilized communication, and the establishment of peace between the cultures and people. This is in line with the Document on Human Fraternity that was signed by the Grand Imam and the Pope Francis during the later’s visit to the UAE last year.

One of the considerable results of this document can be referred to the Abrahamic Family House in Abu Dhabi, an interfaith building that marked its first year in Saadiyat Island earlier this year. This building represents the materialization of the message that Human Fraternity document seeks to achieve with the aim of unifying people across their cultural and religious differences.
