Ras Al Khaimah: The Ras Al Khaimah Police General Command has recently posted a message on its official social media accounts to alert the residents of UAE to the availability of an unsolicited advertisement for employment.
The police have used their social media page to post the general process of the scam and measures that users can take to avoid falling prey to it.
Advertising fake jobs online: The criminal makes attractive offers in the advertisements of the available jobs.
Victims applying to these jobs: Though the jobs that are being advertised seem genuine, people apply for them and have to find out the hard way that indeed the jobs are fake.
Convincing victims that the job involves sales management tasks: In the same order, victims are informed that they will be the ones to manage the sales, and thus responsibilities such as accepting and transferring of money.
Offering rewards for completed tasks: This is done to entice potential victims, who are offered money or other incentives under the guise of ‘employment’.
Unwittingly handling illegal funds: The victims are unaware of dealing with the money derived from the commission of a crime.
Avoid such job advertisements: Ten things about job offers and scams that you should know are: Much as it may be tempting to fall for them, be wary of offers that seem too good to be true.
Seek legal action if victimised: If you end up being a victim of a scam, make sure that you report the issue at the first police station that you come across.
