Sharjah to Host 8th Edition of Al Dhaid Date Festival

The Organising Committee of the Al Dhaid Date Festival has completed everything for the eighth annual event that is to be held from the 25th to the 28th of July at the Expo Al Dhaid. This annual festival that will be held under the aegis of SCCI is going attract participation from many farmers and dates lovers in the UAE.

New events will be featured for the first time in the festival such as the “Ratb Al Kharaif Beauty” contest for children. Other are “The Most Beautiful Home-grown Dates” for women, “Best Lemons”, and the “Fig Contest”. Besides, a new competition, named the “Rare Dates” one, will be held in the framework of the festival and aimed at devoted to agricultural areas in Al Dhaid and the eastern and northern parts of Sharjah.

In this regard, it is remarked that the festival is one of the hardest fought ones for the highly prized products to be distributed to 130 people in gift baskets as winners in different categories in order to compel growers to add value to their date products. it will also include sales promotion of other economic and commercial products, economically productive tour, folklore bands, competitions and cultural programs with the aim of creating awareness of the palm trees and its types.

General Coordinator of Al Dhaid Date Festival, Mohammad Musabah Al Tunaiji reiterated the aspect of the festivity of assuring farm owners and fruit’s cultivation of palms. It is proposed to use a new children’s competition to draw the attention of young people to the cultural values of the UAE and the conservation of date palms.

Enlargement of the number of participants this year amplifies the magnitude as public esteem of the festival as one of the vital venues for the Palm owners, farmers, industry experts and traders of the UAE witnesses. It also has an important function to change the quality of the local date products they offer and increase palm cultivation investment profits and all the related industries.

Some of the general conditions and specific terms of the participation by the Organising Committee include the use of locally grown dates sourced from participants’ farms for the 2024 season. Concerning competitors, one has to submit documents confirming the ownership of the agricultural land and high quality of the dates presented.
