UAE Falcons Federation Approves 2024 Falconry Season Activities

UAE Falcons Federation Board of Directors held a meeting in Abu Dhabi today to deliberate and endorse several measures and actions for the 2024 falconry season. Topics that were discussed in the meeting mainly covered how to popularize the practices of falconry and falcon racing to help the sport dimension of the UAE gain more ground.

Griatitudes were said to have been extended to His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai & President of the UAE Falcons Federation in what the host described as tremendous support and passion towards falconry. The growth and development of the sport can credit much to his leadership.

The said meeting was presided by Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan – a Vice President of the UAE Falcons Federation with the participants being Rashid bin Markhan – the Secretary-General of the Federation and other Board members. Subsequently, the Board ratified the auditor general’s report for 2023, the consolidated financial statements for the financial year ended June 2023 and the budget estimate for the financial year 2024. They also approved operational aspects, pointers for this coming operation season and activities that are expected to be launched during the season.

Being a staunch supporter of the FF, Sheikh Zayed insisted on the need for further work on the development and promotion of falconry based on the field’s integrated plan. This plan’s main objective is to grow falconry and falcon racing involvement from the young people domain with the development of its principles. He described the practical outcomes of this approach, with increased participation rates of the competitions held by the Federation.

Rashid bin Markhan presented that the Federation has been the focal point in raising awareness in falconry and different forms of competitions and events. Publicizing these efforts have not only helped to promote the sport and bring more enthusiasts and participants in the country which in return helped in promoting falconry as a major sporting event in the UAE.
