UAE has started a new execution phase of the Emirates Moon mission with an Emirati crew member being aboard the Analysis and Research Laboratory.

His space suit is loaded into the simulated spacecraft and departs for the partial gravity environment. Human Exploration Research Analog habitat of NASA-JSC is the destination.

The successor of the MBRSC project of Phase I that included “The UAE Analog Programme” had officially started as the second phase of analog study take place this year. Emirati crew member, who goes by Shareef AlRomaithi has just announced his arrival at the Human Exploration Research Analog (HERA) habitat at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, USA.

AlRomaithi leads the onboard HERA team with crew members Jason Lee, Stephanie Navarro, and Piyumi Wijesekara, working for 45 days inside HERA facility. That pair will be Jose Baca and Brandon Kent as their backup astronauts. The HERA habitat, an exclusive, three-story structure, provides the opportunity of zero-gravity simulation on our planet and research of lasting adaptation in conditions of isolation, confinement, and remote similar to those astronauts are to deal with during long-term space flights.

During the HERA of their virtuous trip, the team will carry out research and use of operational tasks. Their mission embraces a voyage with virtual reality, and obtaining instructions from the Flight Command Center through radio omissions in hypothetical scenarios coming close to the Red Planet. The crew is set to leave the complex on the dates indicated: June 23 through June 25.

Salem Humaid AlMarri – the Director-General of MBRSC – noted, “In our pursuit to fully incorporate cutting-edge scientific research and technology with our long-term strategic goals, the UAE Analog Programme will see the country rise in prominence as leader of space exploration not only in this area but around the world.”

The second physical study is an integral part of a four-phase strong Earth-based study of which the other three phases comprise 18 different human health studies on Earth. These experiments, uncovering the physiological, behavioral and psychological responses during the lunar and Martian space travel analogous to as those that future astronauts may undergo are a main focus. This is envisioned through the provisions of scientific experiments to the UAE University (UAEU), the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) and the American University of Sharjah (AUS) that has been organized across all the four phases of the analog.
