The United Arab Emirates expressed its concern for the environment by securing the prestigious Partnerships Award held during the 2024 Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Partnerships Awards. They got the first position in Economic Category for its UAE Pacific Partnership Fund and UAE Caribbean Renewable Energy Fund.
The above efforts, which were nominated by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), are core collaborations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, ADFD, and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar). They are oriented to promote renewable electricity generation, decrease dependence on fossil fuel, increase energy security and address climate change in Caribbean and Pacific area.
ADFD mobilized US$100 million and engaged three entities of UAE, one university, and 26 governments from SIDS on cooperative terms.
