an obviously non-typical weather event for a country in the desert, and in this June, the UAE residents were greeted by hail storms, which are normally associated with winter only. There were two times hail in the week according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the latest of which was along Al Watan road, Hatta en route, with heavy thunderstorm and hail at around 5 PM today, Saturday, 8th June.
This was clearly shown in a video posted by the Storm Centre that featured storm chaser Fahad Mohamad Abdul Rehman dancing during the strong wind and enjoying the hard-typed summer hail. The NCM also affirmed that other regions in the country including Ras Al Khaimah and some areas of Sharjah also experienced the rains over the weekend as predicted.
In Fujairah, light hail was observed on Tuesday (June 7) in Wadi Mai, which altogether supports the notion of erratic weather conditions. Specifically, the NCM recommended the people in the eastern parts of the country to be cautious and prepare for flash floods as there has been much raining.
Such types of weather have both puzzled the
meteorologists and the residents of UAE, which proves the fact that the country has unstable climate. For a country located in the desert, the UAE weather can sometimes show some unpredictability, even during the summer season like in this case of hailing.
To those who wanted to see this phenomenon, it is always a good reminder of the wonders of nature and how it still show its unpredictability in some parts of the world, most especially in areas that are commonly associated with desert areas.
