UAE to Launch Residency Visa Overstay Amnesty in September

This starts from the month of September and the program involves giving two months amnesty to all the people with the expired residency visas in the UAE. This program launched by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security enables the people to either legalise their stay or deport without any monetary charge.

The amnesty’s idea is to offer a compassionate approach to the said issue which occurred due to various reasons affirming the UAE’s principals of tolerance. These welfare organizations like Sahana have appreciated this move as this has helped those in the society facing fines, health issues, and working challenges.

Earlier, such amnesty was conducted in 2018, 2013, and 2007 which indicates that UAE concerned with the issues regarding residency status. The current selves will be an important source of support for those who have been hit by the penalties which were made standard at Dh 50 per day for overstay after the updates made in October 2022.
