By Reuters: On Sunday it became known from the Saudi state news agency that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with Jake Sullivan, White House National Security Adviser to discuss a draft agreement that has been almost agreed on for a security deal between the United States of America and Saudi Arabia.
‘The semi-final version of [the] draft strategic association between the two countries are significantly finalized,’ the meeting concluded based on an official statement.
The discussions followed report that quote U. S. and Saudis are almost there in deals that include US securitycommitments and civil nuclear assistance. But an Israel-Saudi normalization is still not out of the question.
Sullivan’s public announcement of his intention to travel to Saudi Arabia comes before he can plan for a trip to Israel. During the meeting, other topics that were discussed entailed the need for establishing an efficient framework for achieving the two-state solution desired by both Israel and the Palestinians, bringing an end to the conflict with Hamas militants in Gaza, and opening Gaza to humanitarian aid.
Sullivan was due to visit Saudi Arabia and Israel last Friday and the White House house had explained that Sullivan would be speaking to the leaders in regard to the concerns in the bilateral and the region including the recent escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip and the ongoing effort to achieve a lasting peace and security in the Middle East.
