TikTok-supported small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) contributed AED1.1 billion to the UAE economy and helped sustain more than 7,000 jobs, according to a new UAE Economic Impact Report unveiled during the World Governments Summit 2026.
The report, titled The TikTok Effect: Enabling the UAE’s Dynamic Digital Economy, highlights the platform’s growing role in entrepreneurship, job creation, tourism and skills development across the country. Developed in partnership with Redseer Strategy Consultants, the study underscores how TikTok has evolved into a key component of the UAE’s digital ecosystem.

Over 10,000 Businesses Launched Through TikTok
According to Redseer’s findings, more than 10,000 SMBs were launched as a direct result of TikTok, while over 70,000 UAE-based SMBs are currently active on the platform. This demonstrates TikTok’s expanding influence in supporting entrepreneurs and lowering barriers to entry for new businesses.

He noted that the country’s strong regulatory framework and pro-business environment allow global platforms to contribute meaningfully to economic growth.
Jenan Mohamed Alhashili, Head of Public Policy, GCC, said TikTok has moved beyond entertainment to become a functional layer of the UAE’s digital infrastructure.
“This report shows that our impact extends far beyond the screen, contributing over AED1 billion to the economy and supporting thousands of jobs,” she said.
Boost to the Creative Economy
The report also highlights TikTok’s role in driving the UAE’s creative economy. One in four creators said the platform was the primary reason they began producing content. Many have since transformed part-time content creation into sustainable income streams across media, fashion, music and entertainment.
Tourism has also seen measurable benefits. The study estimates that 10 per cent of tourist spending is influenced by TikTok. In key inbound markets such as the UK and the United States, 50 per cent of users reported awareness of the UAE as a travel destination through the platform. Meanwhile, 39 per cent of domestic users said TikTok increased their awareness of destinations within the country.
Skills Development and Social Impact
Beyond financial metrics, TikTok’s impact extends to skills and education. Around 26 per cent of users cited learning as their primary reason for using the platform. Additionally, 75 per cent reported developing professional skills, while 81 per cent said they had built personal skills.
The report also emphasised TikTok’s digital safety framework, combining AI-driven detection systems with human moderation to enforce community guidelines.
