The autonomous taxi service marks another step forward in the emirate’s push toward smart mobility and future transport technology. For the first month of operations, passengers can travel between major attractions across Yas Island without paying a fare.

The service is currently operating with five robotaxis managed by Autogo, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi technology company K2.

Driverless taxis with advanced autonomy

The vehicles operate at Level 4 autonomy, meaning they can drive themselves without human intervention under specific conditions.

The project is part of Abu Dhabi’s broader efforts to build a smart transport network powered by autonomous technology.

The rollout is being implemented by the Integrated Transport Centre Abu Dhabi, also known as Abu Dhabi Mobility, in collaboration with Apollo Go, a subsidiary of Chinese technology company Baidu.

Routes across Yas Island attractions

For the initial phase, the robotaxis operate on designated routes across Yas Island, connecting several popular landmarks, hotels and entertainment venues.

Stops currently include:

  • W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island

  • Yas Marina

  • Yas Mall

  • IKEA Yas Island

  • Ferrari World Abu Dhabi

  • Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi

  • Etihad Arena

  • Yas Park North

These routes allow visitors to travel easily between some of the island’s most popular destinations.

Expansion planned across Abu Dhabi

Authorities have confirmed that the service is expected to expand beyond Yas Island in the next phase.

Future routes may include Al Reem Island, Al Maryah Island and Saadiyat Island, further strengthening Abu Dhabi’s autonomous mobility network.

The city has been steadily testing driverless transport in recent years. In late 2025, robotaxi services operated by Uber and WeRide were also introduced in Abu Dhabi after extensive private trials.

How to book a robotaxi

Passengers can book the driverless taxis through the AutoGo mobile application, available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Users simply select their pickup and drop-off points along the Yas Island route and request a ride through the app.

For the first month of the service, rides are completely free, giving residents and visitors the chance to experience Abu Dhabi’s driverless transport technology firsthand.
