Oman Eases Visa Restrictions for Bangladesh Nationals

Exemptions include family, visit, and professional visas for specific categories

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has announced a partial lift of the visa ban on certain categories of Bangladeshi nationals, which had been in place since October 2023. The Omani Embassy in Dhaka confirmed the exemption for specific groups in a recent statement.

The exempted categories include family visas, visitation visas for Bangladeshi citizens residing in GCC countries, as well as visas for physicians, engineers, nurses, teachers, accountants, investors, all types of official visas, and high-income tourists.

The Embassy in Dhaka will manage and process applications for the exempted categories, coordinating with the Royal Oman Police (ROP) for visa issuance. Applications must include duly attested documentation to verify eligibility, with processing times ranging from one to four weeks.

The embassy emphasized that the work visa ban, which remains in place, is apolitical and stems from technical reasons related to the regular review of Oman’s foreign labor market. Efforts are ongoing between Omani and Bangladeshi authorities to lift the work visa ban as soon as possible.

Oman and Bangladesh maintain strong bilateral relations, continually expanding under the leadership of both governments.
