The Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) and Air Arabia have unveiled the latest destination for a direct travel as the Greek capital, Athens. This new route will commence with three to four weekly flights between Sharjah Airport and Athens International Airport on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and/or Sundays of every week. Future schedules to increase the offering of these flights as well have been prepared.
The first nine new routes, symbolising the beginning of this new route, was graced by the presence of some distinguished personalities like Ali Salim Al Midfa of Sharjah Airport Authority, Adel Al Ali of Air Arabia, Antonis Alexandridis of the Hellenic Republic to UAE in addition to other SLT’s of SAA and Air Arabia.
Strategic Development and Expansion
New air route : Ali Salim Al Midfa stressed this new air route as a crucial component for growth of Sharj Airport strategic map and plan. Speaking on the significance of the new air route to the Hellenic Republic, Al Shirawi stated that, ‘’this is a strategic fit within the Sharjah Airport development and expansion plan to offer increased passengers’ global preferred destinations, and the diversification of choices for them based on the emergence the travelling and transferring cargo demands between the UAE and the Hellenic Republic. ’’ He, inter alia, also stressed proper and effective bi-lateral cooperation between the two countries in the spheres of economy, tourism, or trade.
Enhancing EU Network
Adel Al Ali echoed the companies sentiments about the new EU network of Air Arabia. Athens is the third EU destination created from Sharjah, together with Milan and Krakow, it helps the passengers in the UAE and other countries to discover the Hellenic Republic with AI value for money services The new flights to Athens are the continuation of the AI commitment to deliver the best connectivity services to our customers Our customers are welcome to explore the city of sages and other tourist attractions.
This new route will further increase the passenger traffic between UAE and Greece, thus it is hoped the bilateral ties will be enhanced.
