Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, celebrated the remarkable progress that the UAE has made in global space race after meeting two of the country’s astronauts on Monday. This took place in course of a meeting at Union House in Dubai when he talked about his ambitious hope for future space discovery.
Sheikh Mohammed had a conversation with members of Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) team which constituted Nora Al Matrooshi, an Emirati woman astronaut and Mohammed Al Mulla. During this year both astronauts passed NASA’s arduous training program successfully and are now qualified to participate in space flights.
As they prepare for their upcoming space projects, Vice President advised Al Matrooshi and Al Mulla to aim high. He drew attention to their potential of being like Hazza Al Mansouri – UAE’s first astronaut or Sultan Al Neyadi who finished his mission in International Space Station half a year ago and was then appointed as a member of UAE Cabinet.
Other participants were Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed – Deputy Ruler (second) of Dubai, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed – Chairman for Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chief Executive Officer Emirates Airline; Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori – Chairman at MBRSC Board; Amer Elsayegh Elghafri – Assistant Director General Aerospace Engineering Sector at MBRSC.
