Two main marine transport line projects have been launched by the Dubai government for providing transport from Dubai Creek to the tourist destinations. There are these specific lines that the RTA Authority has initiated with a view of increasing the access to move around with a view of serving the growing public transport demand.

The new lines connect Dubai Creek Harbour through to Al Khor Metro station and to Dubai Festival City. The fare decreases have been implemented since the initial phases of the Y2Q routes starting from 2022, and the routes’ passengers’ frequency has risen as expected. Consequently, it was estimated to service 3,000 passengers per month in August 2022 while in 2024; the lines serve 30,000 passengers per month—a nine folds increase.

To fulfil this need, more ticket vending machines and new quay for different types of watercraft have been implemented. The Route Dubai Creek Harbour to Dubai Festival City is available only on the weekend in the evening from 4 pm to 11:55 pm. On the other hand, the Dubai Creek Harbour line that connects with Al Jaddaf Marine Transport Station and Al Khor Metro Station operate from 7:30 AM to 10:50 AM and again from 4:00 PM to 10:50 PM from Monday to Friday.

This was achieved between the RTA and Emaar Properties where there is provision of improved public station to help in serving the waterfront community and improving tourist attractions and residential segments in Dubai. Here, the marine transport lines are believed to positively influence the number of people using the service with a regard to the RTA Marine Transport Master Plan 2020-2030.

Ahmed Bahrozyan, the spokesman of RTA and the chief executive of the Public Transport Agency announced that these lines have been well effective in catering the demand and expecting more increase in the users of marine transportation. Ahmed Al Matrooshi, the Emaar’s executive board member noted that this partnership is in the best interest of the economy and it propels Dubai into becoming the preferred residential and investment hub.

These new abra routes are cheap being charged at Dhs2 for passengers who want to enjoy an economic, scenic means of getting to popular destinations within Dubai.
