Emirates Expands Cargo Capacity with Order for 5 Additional Boeing 777 Freighters

Currently, the commitment purchase of Emirates is comprised of five more Boeing 777 freighters with deliveries scheduled between 2025-2026. With this new order, and in addition to existing order, Emirates now anticipates that 14 Boeing 777Fs will be delivered to it by end of calendar 2026. The airline has also committed to a multi-year landing rights on four Boeing 777Fs already in operation to increase Emirates SkyCargo’s freighter fleet up to 21 units by December 2026.

In addition to fresh capacity additions, Emirates is also transitioning 10 Boeing 777-300ER passenger to freighter planes to bolster capability. Such a fleet expansion is driven by increased traffic in the air cargo services making Dubai a key player in the logistics industry. The congratulations came from Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Stephanie Pope who expressed her appreciation to Emirates for its sustaining confidence in the Boeing 777 Freighter that she said, will assist in opening up more markets for the world.

In the future there is Emirates’ decision regarding its 2028/29 freighter fleet in which Boeing 777-8F and Airbus A350-1000F are on the cards.

Emirates’ cargo division shall also rely on belly-hold freighter capacity provided by its wide-body passenger aircrafts including the B777s, the A380s, and A350s to serve global shipping needs. Future expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai will also add to further growth and its annual cargo handling capacity of 12 million tones re-affirms the status of being a logistics city.
