DEWA Expands EV Charging Network to Over 740 Points in Dubai

This is according to the data culled from the market by the end of October 2024 which indicated that there were over 34,970 electric vehicles in operation in Dubai.

The charging stations can be easily accessed by simply looking at the DEWA site, application and 15 other touch points making it convenient for users that own an EV.

The DEWA md & CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer explained how the initiative corresponds to the UAE’s plan to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The new Regulatory and Licensing Framework for EV infrastructure launched in late 2020, as well as the issue of the first Independent Charge Point Operator licenses to Tesla and UAEV affirm Dubai’s commitment to supporting green innovation.

From the launch of the EV Green Charger network in 2014 till September, DEWA has provided 31,674 MWH of electricity to potential consumers, where such network has served 16,800 plus customers. The network consists of ultra-fast, fast, public, and wall-box chargers to address user requirements’ variability.

It has became apparent through this initiative that DEWA is not only leading green mobility in the country but also actively seeking private partnerships for sustainable development across the UAE.
