Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Al Furjan Fund to support and finance social initiatives aligned with Dubai Social Agenda 33 — the framework launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum that places family at the foundation of the emirate's future.
Agreement Signed by Senior Officials
The MoU was signed by Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, and HE Ahmed Al Bedwawi, Chairman of Al Furjan Fund. The agreement centres on developing a sustainable community plan that reflects DEWA's broader commitment to Dubai's social and economic growth.
Dr. Al Akraf said the partnership is aimed at strengthening community engagement and delivering services that benefit citizens and residents. He emphasised that the collaboration with Al Furjan Fund is a direct expression of DEWA's role as a socially responsible institution.
Supporting Dubai Social Agenda 33 and Quality of Life Strategy 2033
HE Ahmed Al Bedwawi also welcomed the partnership, noting Al Furjan Fund's founding mandate — established in line with directives from HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum — to work with both public and private sectors in sustaining quality of life within residential communities.
The MoU supports the wider objectives of the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 by channelling DEWA resources toward community-focused programmes. Activities to be funded under the agreement include education initiatives, cultural events, and recreational activities across Dubai's neighbourhoods.
Community Programmes: Sports, Festivals, and Social Events
Sports projects and seasonal events form a key pillar of the partnership. These activities are designed to encourage physical activity, build social capital, and serve as economic enablers for local communities.
Al Furjan Fund has previously backed community welfare programmes such as the Bain Al Ghaf Festival, a Summer Camp for Kids, and an Elderly People Excursion. The MoU with DEWA brings additional institutional backing to these efforts, reinforcing Dubai's commitment to building dynamic and sustainable neighbourhoods.
