For some time now, Mohamed Alabbar the founder of Emaar Properties has encouraged content creators to pitch great ideas regarding marketing Dubai as he assured those with great concepts that they would be rewarded handsomely. Interviewing Alabbar during the 1 Billion Followers Summit, which was held at the Emirates Towers, the Museum of the Future, and the DIFC on January 13, it becomes clear that the businessman is devoted to his city and excited about the idea of positive changes through content production.

“Ultimately build an amazing and creatively genius one year campaign. No man should speak to me without receiving an unbelievable gift for their beautiful minds. Pump me up—I as a person love my city a lot and will like to do it for Dubai. According to Alabbar, ‘’if you give me a good idea, I will write the cheque,’’.

The 1 Billion Followers Summit took place with the tagline ‘Content for Good’ to bring together 15,000 content creators, 420 speakers, and 125 industry leaders. Speaking about creativity Alabbar also stressed on how it should be used for improving the image of Dubai globally, also informed that Dubai Mall is the most visited place on the planet, not only in the year, but per month it attracts 150 million visitors. Currently, he hopes to achieve 200 million through unique content campaigns which include the most successful news portals.

Specifically, Alabbar challenged creators in order to address the global issue of affordable housing. ‘I need someone to make a global campaign for me this is to trigger and engage opinion makers, technologist and others to address this critical issue? This means you should be good to people—but, what have you done? I am challenging each of you,” he said.

Alabbar’s proposal is in line with his call for proposals highlighting his commitment to funding great ideas that will help change the world and tap Dubai’s potential as the melting pot of innovation.
