Dubai Police to Host 4th Interpol Young Global Police Leaders Programme Focusing on AI in Policing

Dubai Police will soon be hosting the fourth INTERPOL Young Global Police Leaders Programme to be held from August 26 to 29, 2024, with the theme ‘Policing in the Age of Artificial Intelligence’. The programme will bring together young police leaders from 35 countries and other INTERPOL speakers and trainers to deliberate on how artificial intelligence is revolutionising industries and, in the process, how these changes reflect on security and policing.

The Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri affirmed that the police force is looking to adopt the strategies that are relevant for the future of policing. ‘Dubai Police as an organization is working towards embracing AI technologies in the ability and efficiency of its police services and security of the societies,’ he said.

Actually, the training of young police leaders should be promoted and the YGPLP 2024 will help to achieve it, as well as to promote the exchange of experience between different countries. The aim of the program is to improve the policing practices throughout the world and share knowledge and the use of technology, including AI in the policing processes.

Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri an armoured at the event agreed but emphasized a change of times and that with the current technology criminals have resorted to sophisticated cybercrimes and AI related crimes. He emphasised the importance of fast action and cooperation to counter these new threats.

Brigadier Harib Al Shamsi, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police said that the program is vital for developing next generation police leaders. A series of academic lectures, workshops, discussion of the uses of AI and criminally-appropriate in the police force and AI accountability.

Within the context of the program, participants will also focus on the discussion and presentations of the ideas targeted at the development of approaches to crime prevention in the context of AI. Finally, the teams are to present the findings and recommendations as young leaders who are finely-tuned to fund and effectively assist decision-makers to influence change in world policing.
