Reese Witherspoon champions AI in Hollywood, urges women to embrace future of filmmaking

Oscar-winning actress and producer Reese Witherspoon has shared her candid views on artificial intelligence (AI) in Hollywood, stressing that women should play a leading role in shaping the future of entertainment through emerging technologies.

Speaking to Glamour magazine during the promotion of her series The Morning Show, Witherspoon reflected on how rapidly the media industry is evolving and why she embraces AI as both a producer and consumer. “I’m always looking forward to how media is evolving and how I can help bring women along in those emerging industries. And now we’re doing it with AI,” she said.

The Sweet Home Alabama star emphasized that AI will be a driving force in the future of moviemaking, urging women to adopt the technology instead of resisting it. “Critics can lament it all they want, but the change is here,” she noted, adding that AI will never replace human creativity, craftsmanship, or self-expression in the arts.

Beyond Hollywood, the 49-year-old revealed that she uses AI tools regularly in her personal life. Witherspoon mentioned platforms like Perplexity and Vetted AI, which help with product comparisons and smart shopping. Giving a simple example, she explained how an AI tool can recommend the best blender by analyzing multiple options.

She also highlighted the benefits of Simple AI, a virtual assistant that can help users schedule tasks such as medical appointments, saving valuable time. “It’s an incredible tool to save time,” Witherspoon said.

By openly embracing AI, Witherspoon hopes to inspire more women in Hollywood and beyond to explore how technology can enhance creativity, efficiency, and opportunity in both filmmaking and everyday life.
