The Significance of Ramadan

Ramadan is the holiest month in Islam and commemorates the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him), particularly during Laylat Al Qadr (the Night of Decree), which falls within the last ten nights of the month.

Throughout Ramadan, Muslims fast daily from sunrise to sunset, refraining from food and drink while focusing on prayer, reflection, charity and community.

How Long Will Ramadan 2026 Last?

Ramadan lasts either 29 or 30 days, depending on the sighting of the crescent moon that marks the beginning of Shawwal.

Astronomical forecasts suggest Ramadan 2026 is likely to be 29 days, although the exact end date will depend on the official moon sighting at the conclusion of the month.

Eid Al Fitr 2026

Eid Al Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, is expected to begin on Friday, March 20, 2026, based on astronomical predictions. However, as with the start of Ramadan, the final date will be confirmed after the Shawwal crescent moon is sighted.

Eid celebrations typically begin with early morning prayers, followed by family gatherings, charitable giving and nationwide festivities across the UAE.

With Ramadan 2026 now officially underway, communities across the UAE will embrace a month of fasting, reflection and togetherness.
