One of Dubai’s most loved public beaches is preparing to welcome visitors once again — and it’s returning with a major upgrade. Jumeirah Beach 1 is set to officially reopen in February 2026 after undergoing an extensive transformation aimed at improving safety, sustainability, and visitor experience.

A long-time favourite for families, joggers, and beachgoers, the revamped Jumeirah Beach 1 now stretches across more than 1,400 metres and is reported to be 95 per cent complete. The redevelopment covers not only the beachfront itself but also surrounding facilities designed to support Dubai’s growing population and tourism sector.

As part of the works, approximately 250,000 cubic metres of sand have been added to elevate the beach level. This enhancement plays a crucial role in strengthening coastal resilience and protecting the shoreline from rising sea levels, aligning with Dubai’s long-term environmental and urban planning goals.

Technology has taken centre stage in the redesign. Visitors can expect free wireless internet, digital information screens, smart lockers, and AI-powered rescue and monitoring systems to enhance safety across the beach. These smart solutions aim to create a more seamless and secure experience for everyone, from early-morning swimmers to sunset strollers.

The redevelopment also opens the door to 15 new investment opportunities, introducing fresh options for beach activities, dining, retail, and services. This means more cafés, recreational experiences, and lifestyle offerings are expected to follow, turning the area into a lively, all-day destination rather than just a place to swim.

For fitness enthusiasts, the beach now features dedicated pedestrian walkways, cycling tracks, and jogging paths, designed to cater to visitors of all ages and abilities. These additions further reinforce the beach’s role as a community-friendly space that encourages an active, outdoor lifestyle.

The project forms part of the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033, which focuses on enhancing public spaces and urban experiences across the emirate. Commenting on the development, Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said the transformation reflects the city’s commitment to delivering public beaches that meet the highest international standards.

He added that the initiative supports Dubai’s vision of creating integrated, world-class beachfront destinations that elevate resident well-being, support tourism growth, and strengthen the city’s position as one of the world’s leading beach destinations.

With its blend of smart infrastructure, enhanced safety features, and expanded leisure options, Jumeirah Beach 1’s reopening promises a fresh chapter for one of Dubai’s most iconic shorelines.
