Series creator Eiichiro Oda also visited the production set during filming and met the returning cast as well as new actors joining the series.

In a message shared during production, Oda said seeing the cast in person confirmed that they were the perfect choices for the characters.

“My own casting selections were made from Japan over photos and videos, but seeing them all in person convinced me: they were absolutely the perfect choice,” he said.

Oda also praised the energy on set, describing the atmosphere as “the best.”


A bigger future for the franchise

The release of Season 2 marks another milestone for Netflix’s ambitious live-action adaptation of the beloved manga series.

The original One Piece manga, first published in 1997, has become one of the most successful comic series in history, selling hundreds of millions of copies worldwide and inspiring a long-running anime adaptation.
