The Dubai Run 2024 has now entered the Guinness World Records as the largest free community event that was held with 280000 participants. The event that took place on Sunday, 24th November, was the last one of the Dubai Fitness Challenge whose purpose is to make the residents of the emirate more active and proceed with physical activities throughout the year.
The Dubai Run was its fourth edition, which had thousands of people run along the Sheikh Zayed Road passing through some of the city’s landmarks. The event offered two routes: trail that measures 5km and the second that measures 10km and in both circuits, spectators are likely to witness distinctive views of iconic places like the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Opera as well as the Museum of the Future.
With the help of Dubai’s traffic authorities the area was made closed for traffic and the runners could run on the Sheikh Zayed Road unhindered. The 5km marathon began around the Museum of the Future and participants were able to run past some of the city’s famous landmarks before reaching the Time Out Market. The 10 kilometers started in the same point and passed through Sheikh Zayed Road, went over the Dubai Canal Bridge and ended near the DIFC Gate.
Every year, the number of participants in the Dubai Run has increased, and in 2023 the some parts of the Sheikh Zayed Road closed for the event beginning from Trade Centre Roundabout up to 2nd Interchange, Lower Financial Centre Street and Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard Road. Dubai’s efforts to spread fitness and wellness to its people and the world has once again been relayed by the 2024 event.
