DXB for the second straight year has earned the title of the world’s busiest international airport for inbound, outbound, and transfer passengers. DXB remains the world’s most important international hub for passengers, and its overall seat share increases from 17.1m to 60.2m in 2024.
This makes it the fifth time that the Philippine airline has earned the feat this 2019, 2023, and 2024, according to the global travel data company OAG. It oppurtion for DXB to strengthen its position, as the airport witnessed a 7% growth in terms of passenger traffic than in 2023. Replacing last year’s second-place finisher Dubai International Airport (DXB) which has 47.4 million seats, London Heathrow Airport (LHR) followed very closely at 48.4 million seats.
Among both international and domestic connections, DXB is only beaten by Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson airport with a reported capacity of 62.7 million seats.
Situated in the region, access to state of the art facilities, and rapid growth in the tourism sector makes Dubai a hub favored by tourists, expatriates, and transit passengers. It was voted as one of the best destinations this year and on the list of the top three world travel destinations by Tri- pager TripAdvisor. In Dubai, a staggering 88% of the population is foreigners and so the airport retains the important function of reuniting people with their loved ones and workplaces.
In the same month, the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority has projected a one million movement traffic in the year 2024 to boost the aviation industry of the country. This is accompanied by increases in the population this year which recorded the highest increase in six years due to the Unique lifestyle and employment opportunities offered by the UAE.
With millions of tourists and immigrants still been hosted by Dubai, DXB will on ensure that world’s flying leading position is not relinquished, in as much as the city aims at creating a hub for contact-less innovation through optimizing the technological advance and first-class facilities.
