Sharjah Self-Defence Club Dominates Second Round of Khaled bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship

The young contestants from Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club secured a victory in the second round of the Championship named after Khaled bin Mohamed Bin Zayed in Jiu Jitsu in Coca Cola Arena, Dubai on Sunday. The event was the No-Gi competitions held under the management of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and received athletes from the Youth, Adults, and Masters categories.

The recorded event was a day-long competition that was exciting to watch due to the participation of the best athletes from the UAE’s leading clubs and academies. Most fans and the relatives of the particular participants contributed to the increased level of excitement through clapping.

The overall champions were the Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club, the runners up were M. O. D UAE and the third place went to Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club.

The championship uses a complex rating table to determine the clubs and athletes’ performance within a five round format. The just concluded Gi competitions last month at the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi indicated that Al Ain Club was at the top of the medal tally for the club, more so followed by the Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club and the Baniyas Club.

Dignitaries also in attendance were; Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Suhail Al Maktoum, the Executive Director of sports development sector in the general authority of sports of UAE and General Secretary of UAE ju-jitsu federation; Sheikh Tariq bin Faisal Al Qassimi; Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi, the chairman of UAE ju-jitsu federation; and Mohamed Salem Aldhaheri, Other AKD guests comprised of Yousef Al Batran, Ahmad Abdul Rahman Al Oweis, Mansoor Al Ketbi, Naaser Al Abdool, Fawzia Faridoun, and from partners, sponsors, and the participating clubs.

Organizer of the championship, Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Suhail Al Maktoum emphasized satisfaction with the organization and competitive level of the championship and thanked the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation for the work done for the organization of the championship and the strengthening of the leadership of the UAE in the sphere of jiu-jitsu.

“The championship proving early advancement of the jiu-jitsu in the UAE as factor which helps to increase the level of the sport in the country and in the world The given pioneering tournament being an excellent example of our adherence to the policy in support of initiatives that help to promote the sports, develop seeds and encourage young people to participate in the competitions, hone their abilities and perform following the results at the tops,” he added.
