Young athletes from Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club secured a dominant victory in the second round of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship, held as No-Gi competitions at Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on Sunday. The event was organized by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and drew competitors from the Youth, Adults, and Masters categories.
Sharjah Tops the Club Rankings
The day-long competition was intense from start to finish, with the UAE's leading clubs and academies fielding their best athletes. Fans and families packed the venue, creating a charged atmosphere throughout.
Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club claimed first place overall. MOD UAE finished as runners-up, and Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club took third.
How the Five-Round Championship Works
The Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship uses a cumulative points table to rank clubs across a five-round format. In the first round — Gi competitions held at Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi — Al Ain Club led the medal tally, followed by Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club and Baniyas Club. Round two's No-Gi results have now shifted the standings in Sharjah's favour.

The event was attended by prominent figures from UAE sports leadership, including Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Suhail Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at the UAE General Authority of Sports and General Secretary of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; Sheikh Tariq bin Faisal Al Qassimi; Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; and Mohamed Salem Aldhaheri, Vice Chairman.

"The championship proves the early advancement of jiu-jitsu in the UAE as a factor that helps to raise the level of the sport in the country and globally," he said. "This pioneering tournament is an excellent example of our adherence to the policy of supporting initiatives that promote sport, develop seeds, and encourage young people to participate in competitions, hone their abilities, and perform at the highest levels."
