Strongest Member of UAE Karate National Team Earns the Silver Medal Fatima Khasif succeeds in the Women Kumite -68KG category in the Asian Championships in Hangzhou, China on September 22,2024. This is a great achievement for Khasif, who is now ranked 91 in the world, as she goes on challenging herself in the sport.
The way to the silver was paved by Khasif who defeated Saudi Arabia’s Lama Kifi in straight sets 6-0. She then repeated the success following another three set victory with a score 10-3 over a Japanese opponent. Then in the semifinals, she was up against Jud Al-Duraws of Jordan which she won on a decision that took her to the final.
For the gold, Khasif fought neck to neck with champion from Hong Kong; Khasif bowed out 2-3 to clinch the silver for her country. This is her second victory in this weight class after she settled for silver at the Under-21 Asian Championship in Almaty-Kazakhstan 2021.
The news that Khasif secured a bronze at the Asian Championships shows that Karate and the UAE are gaining popularity in the international arena of Martial Arts.
