The latest edition of the Airport Show in Dubai separately introduced a number of innovative solutions as potential enablers of new airport transformation in response to the new generation of air terminals. With over 30 countries showcased in the event, many innovations were displayed for increasing efficiency, safety as well as the comfort of passengers due to the increasing demands on world travel by air.
When it came to focus areas for building future readiness, some of the key areas of investment identified included artificial intelligence, digital identity solutions, and predictive control systems. One topic that has emerged clearly is that of the airports trying to make themselves smarter and capable of adapting to a variety of aspects such as security or energy use.
Smiths Detection showcased the Hi-Scan 6040 CTiX Model-S computed tomography scanners, capable to enhance checkpoint performance, security and passenger throughputs. At the same time, DroneShield introduced AI-based countermeasures such as the SensorFusion AI and the RF detection, designed to guard airports from an increasingly prevalent threat to aviation.
IDEMIA revealed its multimodal biometric identity solutions for integrated face and iris scans that increase the speed and security of the passenger and baggage processing. Indeed, digital identity was identified as one of the crucial elements for future airports.
This is a visual display system that provides real time working information that can be used to enhance control and effective management of airport control rooms thus completing the group’s solutions portfolio. Newspaper andamp;; Forbo Movement Systems launched the Amp Miser energy saving belts for conveyors as well as the EcoFiber belt made from recycled PET material that enhances cost saving and reduction of carbon footprint in operations.
Delta Dassault showcased some of their newest lighting technologies which include the POLARIS Portable Lighting System and the VISTA Airfield Lighting System which is ideal for fixed as well as relocatable aviation facilities.
