Dubai International Airport (DXB) on Track for Record-Breaking Year with 68.6 Million Passengers

DXB further rises in 2024 and sees passengers’ total to 68.6M through September with figures up 6.3% versus last year. This projection is expected to be achieved, whereby forecasts besides this year’s’ record annual passenger traffic are supported by an active end of year festive seasons.

 

Passengers Trend and most Sought Holiday Destination

India was the biggest destination market by volumes, attracting 8.9 million passenger in nine months. Saudi Arabia came second with 5,600,000 travelers a 15.2% year-on-year increase followed by the UK with 4,600,000 travelers a 4.7% increase. India and china occupied the first place, having 5.6 million and, 4.6 million respectively while Pakistan and the USA followed with 3.4 million and 2.6 million and Germany added 2 million travelers.

 

London maintained its position as the top city destination with 2.9 million passengers and Riyadh’s numbers were up by 25.8% with 2.3 million passengers. Others were Mumbai with 1.8 million people, Jeddah with 1.7million people and New Delhi with 1.6 million people.

 

Operational Excellence

More than 327,700 movement of flights were processed in the first nine months by DXB, a 6.4% rise on a yearly basis. The airport handled 60.1m bags with the best baggage handling accuracy rate of 99.3 per cent, where 92 per cent of arriving baggage for terminating passengers were delivered within 45 minutes.

 

Paul Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Airports, discussed the airport’s staying power and customer-focused approach. “DXB has again showcased its resilience as outstanding global connector, powered by our mission to deliver Guests with the finest experience facilitated by technology and acclaimed hospitality.

 

Winter Surge and an Expected Future

For the last quarter, DXB expects to host 23.2 million people, expats on end-of-year business trips and overseas tourists to catch events in Dubai during the winter period. Outbound traffic is expected to be generated by the forthcoming sports on the niche such as DP World Tour Championship, Emirates Dubai 7s and new year event among others.
