The Dubai Metro station will change its name to Al Garhoud starting on April 14th 2025. RTA declared through an official announcement that GGICO Metro Station serving the Red Line will adopt the new name Al Garhoud Metro Station beginning Monday April 14 2025.
The station’s updated title takes its name from its position in the Garhoud neighborhood as RTA strives to improve transportation services and create effortless movement for local residents and visitors. The institution behind the renaming implemented this street sign alteration to enhance metro station accessibility and to link station names with existing community areas.
The RTA uses its social media platforms to inform the public about the name transition of GGICO Metro Station to Al Garhoud Station starting on April 14, 2025. New name, same destination, maximum efficiency.”
The passenger-servicing GGICO Station operates within a mature part of Dubai that consists of established neighborhoods. The newly adopted name Al Garhoud expresses clear geographical links that enables passengers to recognize landmarks and route through the city.
The station renaming patterns have emerged as a new concept which the Dubai Metro system now implements. The RTA collaborated with financial service provider Al Fardan Exchange to rename Al Khail Metro Station into Al Fardan Exchange Metro Station during the previous month.
The Al Fardan Exchange Station occupies its new position between Dubai Media City and the American University of Dubai with Emirates Golf Club situated in an easterly direction.
The enhancement of public transport infrastructure in Dubai becomes more convenient through such updates which promote better connectivity and improve the metro traveling experience for all passengers.
