RTA Celebrates Dubai Metro’s 15th Anniversary with Free Higher Education for ‘Metro Babies’

As part of the anniversary celebration of the Dubai metro, the RTA said it would provide extraordinary events and activities on September 9, 2024. In this regard of this milestone, the RTA has developed a special promotion targeted to students, who were born on the September 9, 2009 – the day when the Metro was firstly introduced. This is known as the ‘Metro Baby’ initiative within the school and it entails sponsoring each of the students for an academic year and make them academically capable without having to bother about paying for their fees.

Having cumulative GPA of 90 percent or higher and be a UAE Nationals one can apply for this sponsorship. Here, the RTA is providing its assistance in terms of funding degrees in the most relevant areas that include electromechanical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, data science, computer science, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. This move not only signifies the anniversary of ‘Dubai’A’, but also the preparation and support to the next generation of talents.

It also have more translated celebrations other than the academic gains. On Saturday 21st September LEGOLAND Dubai is having a dedicated day for little kiddos who are born between 9 September 2009 and 9 September 2023. The RTA’s Web site is providing information on how parents can enroll their children for a day loaded with games and interesting things including foll and other prizes.

Besides the LEGOLAND celebration, the RTA has planned another fun event in the form of musical event which will take place from September 21 to September 27. Seeking to provide both variety and a reflection of Dubai’s inclusive culture, performances from traditional Emirati and international artists will take place at various stations throughout the metro system. That way organised event can improve commuters’ perception of their trip, not to mention provide a portion of Dubai’s music history.

A humorous touch to the festivities will be provided in which 5,000 residents will have a chance to get discounts with a Nol card. The shoppers who are so fortunate as to be on the winning side of this promotion have to look for a secret code written on specially designed Metro shaped ice cream sticks which are available in a limited edition across the city.

With these event and activities, the RTA is turning the Dubai Metro’s 15th anniversary into a citywide event with educational and entertaining elements and promoting a sense of community togetherness.
