Sheikh Hamdan Unveils AED16 Billion Roads Development Plan for Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Crown Prince of Dubai has launched AED 16 billion road development program for 2024-2027 to upscale the roads and transport system in Dubai. The extravagant RTA project involves 22 new propositions for enhancing mobility type and convenience for 6m residents, and meeting the needs of Dubai’s systematic urbanization.

While on a visit to the RTA, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in the company of top official, discussed prospective expansions. Major roads include Latifa bint Hamdan Street and Al Mustaqbal Street, the proposed expansion of lanes, new bridges, and innovative intersection will enable the handling of thousands more vehicles per hour resulting in improved travel time of 20 per cent or more. RTA also reported some of the enhancements made to pedestrian and cycling facilities; the cycling tracks were set to increase from 557 km to connect coastal area with suburban routes.

The plan also covers emerging smart solutions like trackless trams, traffic managed by the system’s artificial intelligence and autonomous buses towards the smart flow of transport in Dubai. The dedicated bus and taxi lanes, belonging to RTA, will be also expanded by 2026, which will increase the general public using transit more and more and make them switch to environment-friendly transport systems.

Towards these objectives, RTA has begun campaigns to enhance the talent within the organization and the nation, through scholarship and training in things such as artificial intelligence and data analytics. These programs are intended to empower Emiratis with specialized dexterity required in today’s developed city facilities.
