Abu Dhabi Launches Advanced Food Security Data Platform

The Authority has on this note developed and has now presented the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Security Data Platform all under the supervision of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The concept of this strategic tool is to contribute to the decision-making process concerning food security and agriculture in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The aforementioned platform acts as an extended electronic front door and comprises detailed and reliable data on all the segments of the agriculture and food industry. The platform concerns the issues starting from the production of agricultural crops and products up to their distribution and consumption thus providing up-to-date data to be analyzed and deliver reports useful to the policymakers to increase the effectiveness of the food security policies. It also helps in a process of rebuilding the integrated food supply system for Abu Dhabi and its populations adequate to address potential threats to food and biosecurity in a short term time.

Speaking at ADAFSA, the Director-General, Saeed Al Bahri Salem Al Ameri said that the platform is quite vital in enhancing innovation in food security. He said that offering users easy access to credible information contributes to the creation of new technologies aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the agriculture and food industry in the Emirate. He also confirmed the complete backing of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan for this mission as proof of the leadership’s dedication to guaranteeing secure and sustainable food for the population.

It has been designed in cooperation with 16 key partners from both public and private domain and relies on state of the art standards in terms of data processing and administration. ADADEFSA plans to bolster those strategic objectives which conform with the organization’s directions to create food abundance and security and to facilitate sustainable agriculture. It has a wide-ranging dashboard that provides for more than 335 indicators it is used to flexibly respond to food-based crises, epidemics, and animal diseases, and plant pests.

It tracks data concerning the local agricultural output, imports and exports of produce, investments in agriculture, the food stocks, and the national and global rates at which food is lost and wasted. It also includes the accomplishment in animal and plant health, pest control, and vaccination. Besides, it has current data, performance analytics, and the forecasts of the further development in the sphere of agriculture and food supply to help to make the right decision.
