Dubai has moved a step closer to improving its standing on the international arena, thanks to getting the green light for a $2.7bn master plan for Expo City, spearheaded by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE. This grand plan seeks to repurpose the area of the 2020 World Expo granting it the status of an innovational, Green City, and Living Lab.
Located over an area of 3.5 sq km, Expo city is estimated to support more than 35000 population in the city and nearly 40000 professionals which make it a global city for businesses investors and tourists. This new development is in consonance with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan where Expo City is planned to one of the five crucial urban nodes , it also complements the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 plan to double the emirate’s economy by 2033.
Master plan’ element is the new Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), which is expected to increase economic impact of MICE, or Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibition by a factor of three by 2033. Development of this facility will enhance the economic development of the country and also the attendees will benefit from immense connectivity options for world activities.
