Italy Commends Dubai Police’s Success in Combating Organized Crime

Italian Police chiefs such as Perfect Vittorio Pisani, the general director of Public security and Head of Italian police force welcomed His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, the commander in chief of Dubai police alongside his delegation in the Ministry of interior in Rome. A special meeting was organized with the Italian senior police representatives including Prefect Raffaele Grassi, Deputy Chief of police-force and Prefect Annunziato Vardè, Director of the Planning and Coordination Office of Police Forces. Also present was Colonel Tariq Sultan Al Suwaidi, the Director of the Wanted Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation of the Dubai Police .

This visit was dedicated to improving cooperation in matters concerning policing, security, and fight against organized crime. They included considerations on how to achieve counter measures for organized and transnational crime, drug trafficking, as well as on the utilization of cryptocurrencies for money laundering.

While briefing Lt Gen Al Marri stressed upon the UAE’s approach towards partnership in security with nations of the world under the directives of HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Minister of Interior. He emphasized the role of these cooperation and security with Italian authorities to confront with the organized crime and enhance the relation with Italian security departments.

Praising the existing and strengthened idea of cooperation, Pisani stressed the commitment of the police service in Dubai to improving cooperation and better integration into the fight against crime. He especially highlighted the specific operational attainment of Dubai Police in identifying and arresting 13 international fugitives who were wanted by the Italian Judicial Investigation Authority and their effectiveness in obtaining a judicial order to forfeit an amount of fifty million euros, which is said to have been accrued from criminal activities.

This meeting brought into the limelight how both the nations are keen on advancing their cooperation in the fight against criminal fraternity, strengthening their security and international relations.
