Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority RTA has recently confirmed that Mashreq Metro Station which is located on the red line of the Sheikh Zayed Road has recently been renamed to the InsuranceMarket Metro Station. This is the latest rebranding of the station and was earlier known as Sharaf DG till the naming rights were bought by Mashreq Bank in 2020.
This change is going to take place from 5th September 2024 and will be in force for the subsequent ten years. Soon people will recognize the new branding gradually expanding across the station and its associated characters like Alfred from InsuranceMarket. It is alighned between the Mall of the Emirates and the Dubai Internet City.
The RTA has started replacing its outdoor and indoor signages, as well as, icons affecting digital screens and loudspeakers in trains. Full implementation of the new name will take effect in November to cover all channel.
Starting from 2008, the Dubai Metro stations have been handed over to the companies for naming as 23 out of 47 stations have been facilitating the brands in the upper half of the city. These rights are granted bearing in mind the companies’ social contribution to the society as well as the principle of corporate and social responsibility. This over the years has been a source of more than AED 1. 8 billion for the city.
Currently, the Dubai Metro is being under expansion, where in the planning of the RTA, there is a vision of developing 140 stations by the year 2040 in desperation to improve the public transport framework of the city.
