Nakheel Awards AED 810 Million Contract for Palm Jebel Ali Marine Works as Development Advances

Palm Jebel Ali marine works contract worth AED 810 million has been granted to Nakheel, a subsidiary to Dubai Holding Real Estate from Jan De Nul Dredging LTD. The company exists under the Jan De Nul Group and when contracted will be undertaking very crucial functions such as dredging, reclamation of the land as well as profiling of the beach and sand placement. These activities are very important in preparing the site for construction of luxury villa which is to be developed across all the fronds of this iconic structure.

Some mobilisation has already been made and the marine works are expected to be completed in little over two years. Specifically, it is forecasted that the first eight fronds will be available at the site during the first quarter of the year 2025, and mark the beginning of the construction of villa and civil structures. This is important as Palm Jebel Ali moves to the next stage in realizing its long-term goal of being one of the most preferred residential and leisure spot in Dubai.

Apart from the marine works contract awarded for the construction of Palm Jebel Ali, Nakheel recently awarded several infrastructure contracts for new public access road from Sheikh Zayed Road and improvement in the road network and illumination of the existing road networks providing connectivity between the mainland and the Palm Jebel Ali. All these will help to check for easy integration as the development of the project advances.

Palm Jebel Ali developed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai with the focal of making it as the garden city with beautiful with state-of-art waterfront facilities. The development is in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and is amongst the strategic plans of the emirate.

Khalid Al Malik, the chief of Dubai Holding Real Estate, pointed at the significance of cooperation with Jan De Nul Dredging. He pointed out that due to specialization in marine and environmental undertaking the company has the capacity to achieve the project’s objectives. Landscape to serve the Palm Jebel Ali, the ‘pearl of the Gulf’, 13. 4 kilometers in length with 91 kilometers of beaches, the new development is structured according to the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan as it aims, among others, at increasing the availability of public beaches.

The first phase with over 700 frond villas, is planned for handover by year end of 2026.
