Sheikh Hamdan Unveils Dubai Loop: A Revolutionary Underground Transit System

The Dubai Loop represents an advanced underground transit system that will revolutionize city transport through its development in Dubai. The project emerged on the third day of World Government Summit (WGS) 2025 after The Boring Company and Dubai Roads and Transport Authority formed a partnership with Elon Musk.

The Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum proclaimed the Dubai Loop as a massive advancement in mobility because it facilitates rapid emissions-free service between densely populated urban zones.

Key Features of Dubai Loop

• 17-kilometre underground network
• 11 stations covering major city hubs
• The system enables movement of 20,000 passengers every hour during operation.
• The system performs direct and uninterrupted journeys to all destination stops.
• Speeds of up to 160 km/h

Elon Musk described the Dubai Loop system as a ‘wormhole which enables users to slide through space and appear instantaneously at different locations. This project aligns with Dubai’s mobility vision by implementing a congestion-reducing system which will increase connectivity and enhance environmental sustainability.

Sheikh Hamdan noted that Dubai under the leadership of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum establishes worldwide transportation standards which push technological and sustainable boundaries while improving operational effectiveness.
