Dubai: The UAE Eid Al Fitr 2026 holidays have officially been confirmed for federal and private sector employees, giving residents clarity to plan travel, family gatherings and festive celebrations.
Official Eid Al Fitr 2026 Holiday Dates in the UAE
According to announcements from the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation:
Federal Government Employees
Holiday: Thursday, March 19 to Sunday, March 22, 2026
Work resumes: Monday, March 23
Private Sector Employees
Holiday: Thursday, March 19 to Saturday, March 21, 2026
Since Sunday is already part of the regular weekend in many emirates, most employees will enjoy a four-day break. However, those required to work on Sundays will return on March 22.
Officials also noted that if Ramadan completes 30 days, the private sector holiday may extend to include Sunday, March 22.
How to Turn a 4-Day Eid Break Into 9 Days
With strategic planning, employees can significantly extend their time off.
If you apply for annual leave from Monday to Thursday, March 16–19, you could enjoy a continuous nine-day break:
Saturday, March 14 to Sunday, March 22
This smart combination of weekends and official holidays creates an extended vacation window — ideal for international travel, staycations or family time.
When Will Eid Al Fitr 2026 Be Confirmed?
Although the holiday window has been announced, the exact start of Eid depends on the crescent moon sighting.
The UAE moon-sighting committee is scheduled to meet on March 18, corresponding to the 29th day of Ramadan.
Since the UAE follows the Islamic lunar calendar, final confirmation will only be made after the official moon observation.
Why This Matters for Residents
The early announcement allows families across the UAE to prepare for one of the most significant Islamic celebrations of the year. From travel bookings to festive shopping and family meals, advance planning can help maximise both time and savings.
With a potential nine-day window available through smart leave planning, Eid Al Fitr 2026 could offer one of the best extended breaks of the year for UAE residents.
