The UAE became the first country to launch the Blue Visa system which awards sustainable residency to professionals making environmental protection and climate action strides.
Announcers made this program public at the World Governments Summit 2025 which occurred in Dubai between February 11 to 13. The educational entity comprising the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment with jurisdiction from the Federal Authority for Identity Citizenship Customs and Ports Security (ICP) announced the first round will provide 20 sustainability innovators with Blue Visa permits.
Environment protection professionals representing global corporations can obtain this visa.
Casual internet or mobile application users, as well as potential nominees from UAE government departments can apply through ICP websites.
Dr. Amna Bint Abdullah Al Dahak as the Minister of Climate Change and Environment stated that the Blue Visa enables the UAE to recruit global sustainability professionals as part of its countrywide talent recruitment strategy. Applications for the Blue Visa can be submitted around the clock by using digital platforms as confirmed by Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili who leads ICP.
The Blue Visa maintains itself as a continuation of Golden and Green Residency programs so the UAE fulfills its purpose in environmental leadership coupled with sustainable development.
