Speaking exclusively, the Turkish restaurateur said he flew from New York to Dubai on the first available flight after hearing about recent developments in the region.
Gökçe explained that the city holds a special place for him and his global restaurant brand.
“Dubai is like a second home for us. We have a very strong connection with this city,” he said. “Dubai has always believed in us, and we have always had great confidence in Dubai.”
The founder of the international Nusr-Et restaurant chain said he postponed other commitments, including a planned restaurant opening in Mexico, in order to be present in Dubai with his team.
“In times like these, it is important to stand together,” he added. “That is why it was important for me to be here.”
Restaurants operating normally
According to Gökçe, operations at Nusr-Et restaurants across Dubai have continued without disruption.
He said there have been no issues with supply chains, staffing or product availability, and that restaurants remain open and welcoming guests as usual.
“Everything is very organised and progressing as it should,” he said. “There have been no delays or interruptions in supply or operations.”
Gökçe also praised the coordination of authorities and institutions in managing the situation effectively.
“Our doors remain open, our fire is on, and we continue to welcome our guests with the same passion and hospitality that define Nusr-Et,” the company said in a statement.
Dubai remains a global hospitality hub
Dubai has played a key role in the international expansion of the Nusr-Et brand.
After opening its first restaurant in Istanbul in 2009, the company launched one of its earliest international locations in Dubai in 2014.
Today, Nusr-Et operates restaurants in Dubai International Financial Centre, Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach and Abu Dhabi, alongside venues around the world.
Gökçe said the city’s reputation as a global destination continues to strengthen its hospitality sector.
“Dubai is not only the centre of the region but also a global hub,” he said. “If you succeed in Dubai, you can succeed anywhere.”
More investment planned in Dubai
Looking ahead, the restaurateur confirmed that the group plans to continue expanding in Dubai, with preparations underway for a new investment at The Dubai Mall.
“Our belief and confidence in Dubai are absolute,” he said.
He added that success in the hospitality industry ultimately depends on maintaining quality and delivering memorable guest experiences.
“Guests today care about the full experience – not just the food, but also service, ambience and value,” he said.
“Dubai will continue to shine as the pearl of the region, just as it always has.”
