Speaking exclusively, Turkish restaurateur Nusret Gökçe — known worldwide as Salt Bae — said he flew from New York to Dubai on the first available flight after hearing about recent developments in the region. The founder of the international Nusr-Et restaurant chain made clear that his loyalty to the city is unconditional.
"Dubai is like a second home for us. We have a very strong connection with this city," he said. "Dubai has always believed in us, and we have always had great confidence in Dubai."
Gökçe said he postponed other commitments — including a planned restaurant opening in Mexico — to be present in Dubai with his team.
"In times like these, it is important to stand together," he added. "That is why it was important for me to be here."
Salt Bae Dubai Restaurants Operating Normally
According to Gökçe, operations at Nusr-Et restaurants across Dubai have continued without disruption. He confirmed there have been no issues with supply chains, staffing or product availability, and that all locations remain open and welcoming guests as usual.
"Everything is very organised and progressing as it should," he said. "There have been no delays or interruptions in supply or operations."
Gökçe also praised the coordination of authorities and institutions in managing the situation effectively.
"Our doors remain open, our fire is on, and we continue to welcome our guests with the same passion and hospitality that define Nusr-Et," the company said in a statement.
Dubai: A Global Hospitality Hub
Dubai has played a central role in the international expansion of the Nusr-Et brand. After opening its first restaurant in Istanbul in 2009, the company launched one of its earliest international locations in Dubai in 2014.
Today, Nusr-Et operates restaurants at the Dubai International Financial Centre, the Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach, and Abu Dhabi, alongside venues across three continents with a team of over 1,600 employees worldwide.
Gökçe said the city's reputation as a global destination continues to strengthen its hospitality sector.
"Dubai is not only the centre of the region but also a global hub," he said. "If you succeed in Dubai, you can succeed anywhere."
New Investment Planned at The Dubai Mall
Looking ahead, Gökçe confirmed that the group plans to continue expanding in Dubai, with preparations underway for a new investment at The Dubai Mall — one of the world's busiest retail destinations, drawing over 100 million visitors annually.
"Our belief and confidence in Dubai are absolute," he said.
He added that lasting success in hospitality depends on maintaining quality and delivering memorable guest experiences across every touchpoint.
"Guests today care about the full experience — not just the food, but also service, ambience and value," he said.
"Dubai will continue to shine as the pearl of the region, just as it always has."
